$10,000 To Win Macs Sanctioned Fall Classic 50 This Saturday Sept. 17Th

Saluda, Va. --

Saluda, VA - Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway returns to action this Saturday September 17th with the MACS Super Late Model Series driver’s visiting for the $10,000 to win Fall Classic 50 presented by Thurston Spring Service, Inc. Many of the Mid-Atlantics top drivers will be on hand to try and take home the big money. The payoff for this weekend’s 50 lap event is stellar from front to back with second paying $6000, fourteenth paying $1000 and $700 to start the “A” Main. All cars not transferring to the “A” Main receive $200.

The track will also crown its 2005 Champions in the Victory Lap Late Model and Truckin Thunder Sportsman divisions. Jamie Lathroum only needs to start the 35-lap feature to take home the $10,000 Victory Lap Late Model Championship. Lathroum holds a 107-point lead over Roland Mann of Chaptico, MD. Mann will not go home empty handed, as he will collect $3000 for finishing in the runner-up position in the 2005 points chase. Virginia Motor Speedway boasts a $25,000 point fund for the Victory Lap Late Model steel head division with tenth place paying $1000.

In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman Bobby Bustamante of Chesapeake, VA will have his work cut out for him, as he will enter the night’s event with only a 10-point advantage over Walker Arthur of Forest, VA.

Competitor gates for Saturday, September 17TH will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps. The Saturday September 17TH feature lineup includes: MACS Super Late Models (50 Laps); Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps) and the Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 Laps). Super Late Models will run Time Trials, heats, B-Mains, Dash and feature; Late Model and Sportsman divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features. Adult tickets are just $20, Senior and Military tickets are $15, Students 13 –17 yrs old $12, Children 7 – 12 yrs old $6 and Children 6 and under free. Pit Passes will be $25. Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a 1/2-mile, dirt oval. The track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
