Newton, NC --
(Newton, NC March 30th) UARA-STARS Championship contender Jamie Yelton is looking forward to Saturday April 1st, no April Fooling, to get some redemption from having a dominate car at Hickory and not getting the checkered flag. No, Jamie and the "Forest City Badboys" are not looking to settle it in the pits, they want to take the Sunoco Pole Award and the Victory trophy and check back home to Forest City.
Yelton's goals are to be the fastest in practice, sit on the pole and lead every lap. A tough thing to do in the highly competitive UARA late models series. This year started with a huge group of rookies, and a strong sophomore group and a few veterans who are not rolling over. By seasons end a new Champion will be crowned and Jamie wants to be that Champion. Jamie has been a Champion in every series he raced in, MotoCross, Legends and Late Model weekly series. Now he wants a tour Championship to add to his collections. He has a assembled a Championship crew led by one of the best crew chief in short track racing, David King. David has a remarkable record, some will tell you he invented late model racing, his workshop lined with hundreds of awards ands Victory Lane photos. He has worked with drivers like, Greg Marlowe, Dennis Setzer, Shane Huffman, Regan Smith, Matt Carter, just to name a few, and now he is in his third year with Jamie. David too wants a Championship, he, like his whole crew is used to winning, and that's their goal.
Yelton had this to say, " we really had a good car at Hickory, the Goodyear tires was perfect, my car was turning almost to good and that motor never quit pulling. This team don't give up and our goal is to be the next UARA Champion. This year we have Engines by Graham taking care of our horsepower and we haven't been disappointed. I cant wait to get to Southern National, I talked to someone who has won a ton of races there and got some good advice. I have all the confidence in David and my crew to have the best car this weekend and hope we have some good luck with lap traffic. This tour is by far the way to race, traveling and getting the experience at different tracks can't do anything but make you a better driver, it sure has helped me alot. I hope that everyone makes it to the race Saturday, I know they'll see a great race".
Be at Southern National Saturday April 1st to see the best Late Model drivers in the country go at it for a $3000 pay day. Get there early and see everyone making their best laps for the Sunoco Pole Award, and then visit the drivers on the track for a autograph session before the race. Besure and stop by that beautiful black 8 car and get Jamie to sign you a postcard, and wish him luck in Saturday nights race.
