“Reinhart Foodservices/ Sky 4 TV Night at the Races”

Post Race Recap 8-26-17

“For Immediate Release”

By Mark Rogers Jr (Media Partner for Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway)

Headed into the latter half of the summer months also means were headed into the latter portions of the race season here at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway. With divisional series points on the line and the ever so desired track championship in full play. Race fans on this evening without question, were treated to some of the most intense racing yet in the 2017 race at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway. On hand in racing action were the Harris Truck Shop Super Trucks along with the Bojangles Enduros. In twin race events were the Trip Anderson Realtor Winged Champ Karts, Pepsi Grand Stocks, Old Skool Video Games Super Streets and action from the Larry King Law’s Modifieds. Here’s a recap of all the exciting race action.

Trip Anderson Realtor Winged Champ Karts Twin 20’s: Tillman Heuer nabbed up his first pole of the season posting a 23.130 second lap in Winged Champ Karts race division. Aaron Leach was just eleven thousandths off the pole lap and would start second in row one. Matthew Leach, Chris Bechtel and Gary Osbourne were qualifying’s five best. Green flag waved with pole sitter Tillman Heuer showing the way in a four car tandem after one lap complete. But then a change for the race lead several laps later after contact on the backstretch saw Danny Mallard as the new leader. With just a few laps to go, more contact up front saw Chris Bechtel take a turn at the lead but back would come Mallard to retake the lead. From there, it was all about

survival as Mallard picked up the race win. Mallard in Victory Lane, “Man, I don’t know what happened out there”, claimed the race winner. “All I saw was Aaron on top of somebody and his brother was behind me, I don’t know what happened to Harry. Woo, just want to thank my sponsors, my brother couldn’t be here tonight, Dave we got one tonight”.
In the second Winged Champ Kart feature, Danny Mallard was the pole sitter by virtue of his win earlier in the evening as there was not a mandatory invert to the feature. Green flag waved and the field motored into turn one. Danny Mallard quickly established the race lead but soon came Chris Bechtel to take his turn just shy of the halfway. Nose to tail was Bechtel and Tillman Heuer for the second half of the feature but Chris Bechtel would survive and cross the stripe for his first win of the season. Chris Bechtel from Victory Lane, “This is the most awesome series you can be in, but it’s also one of the hardest”, claimed the race winner. “I strapped in and I told myself that I was not coming off that white line and I did not. I’ve been racing out here now for eleven years and this is my first time winning”.

Larry King Law’s Modifieds Twin 33’s: Andrew Fortin was the Modified division fastest qualifier for his first pole on the season. His lap at 17.096 seconds was better than the lap of Danny Harrell’s lap only thirty thousandths off. Bobby Gery, Mike Rudy and Jamie Sample were the afternoons best. Green flag waved to pole sitter Andrew Fortin and secured his race lead going into turn one. With just a few laps in, Fortin would build up a ten car length lead as Danny Harrell, Bobby Gery and Mike Rudy jockeyed for position. After a brief caution, Mike Rudy took a turn at the lead but surrendered that lead back to Fortin just a lap later. Halfway into the feature saw series points leader Shawn Balluzzo charging through the field in need of a caution and a caution Balluzzo received. Ensuing restart saw the race leader Fortin miss a shift as Bubba Johnston assumed the race lead. But soon came the charge of Shawn Balluzzo to take the race lead and from there went on to win the first modified race feature. Balluzzo from Victory Lane, “I gotta thank all my guys, normally I’m thanking all the fans but we blew a motor at Dominion last week. There’s been people working on this car nonstop, Bobby Creech lent us a motor, then we broke a distributor, a transmission and another distributor while we were here”.
In the second Modified feature, by virtue of the mandatory invert, Danny Harrell would get the race pole. As the green flag waved, Harrell would show the eleven car field into turn one and from there it wasn’t long before the race lead was about eight lengths. Early movers in the event were Jamie Sample along with Bobby Gery but back up front, the race was being dominated by Danny Harrell. Latter portions of the race saw Sample cut into Harrell’s race lead but when Gery got by for second, it was what Harrell needed in search for his first win of the

year but then the caution flew. After several late race cautions in the event, Danny Harrell would survive the charge of Shawn Balluzzo for his first win in the Modified race division. Harrell from Victory Lane, “I tell ya, I didn’t realize that I got out and got going and then all these cautions I was like, man I can’t believe this”, stated Danny Harrell. “But I stayed calm, I stayed cool, try not to overdrive it, hit my marks and here I am baby. This win is off the chain and I just want to thank everyone who helped get this back to where it was, God I love you all”.

Pepsi Grand Stocks Twin 25’s: Tim Wilson earned the race pole in afternoon qualifying for his first pole on the year. Wilson’s lap at 18.289 seconds knocked off the lap of series points leader Tommy Sweeney who was back this week after a scary incident involving parts from his drive shaft coming through the floor pan of his ride starting second. Green flag was over the speedway as Tim Wilson showed the field into turn one. Shotgun starter Tommy Sweeney challenged early but yielded his attempt at the race lead. Wilson’s race lead was enjoyed till just shy of the halfway when Sweeney began to run down the leader and eventually passing Wilson for the race lead. Following the path of Sweeney was Rodney Boyd to take second but the first Grand Stock race feature would go to Tommy Sweeney. Sweeney from Victory Lane, “We had to replace everything on this car from the flywheel on back and my guys stayed with me all week long”, shared Sweeney. “It’s a sacrifice and I ask a lot from my guys” with his son in his hands an emotional Sweeney in Victory Lane.
In the second Super Street feature, Brandon Hinson was on the pole by virtue of the mandatory invert putting race winner Tommy Sweeney starting seventh on the grid. Green flag waved and it was Brandon Hinson securing the point coming out of turn two. Paul Lubno would challenge early before Rodney Boyd was able to get around. But then troubles for the division points leader Tommy Sweeney when he goes around, ending his night shortly thereafter. Laps later a new leader emerged as Kevin Morgan would show the way as the halfway point was shown to the grid. Rodney Boyd from there would mount a charge and would chase down the leader Morgan as there was just a few laps remained. But it was Kevin Morgan with just a bit more and would go on to win the second Grand Stock feature. Morgan from Victory Lane, “Yeah, this has been a helluva year, we’ve tried about every set up on this thing”, explained the race winner. “First night we finished fourth, had a good run, I said the heck with it, we gotta go back to what it was. We came back ran, made an adjustment in that first race, ran up to Tommy so I knew we were getting close. We have a long run car, lots of cautions this year hardly any long runs, I like the forty lap races, my car comes in it’s like a rocket”.

Old Skool Video Games Super Streets Twin 25’s: Sean Calway earned the Super Street race pole for his first time this season as well with a lap at 19.138 seconds. Randy Akers would start second in row one as Dale Parro, Bill Eaker Jr and Landon Abbott were the top five in qualifying. Green flag would wave to the field as Sean Calway would secure the race lead out of turn two. Dale Parro and Landon Abbott were the early movers as was the second place car of Randy Akers. Several laps into the race saw Randy Akers in the race lead just before the halfway and the races first caution flag. Ensuing restart, Akers maintained his race lead but this time, Dale Parro would give chase to the leader and with just a few laps left was able to get to the bumper of the leader. With a shot coming out of turn four from Dale Parro, Randy Akers goes on to win the first Super Street feature. Akers from Victory Lane, “First of all I gotta thank God without this none of this is possible”, said the race winner. “Bill Mullis for getting this racetrack back, Old Skool Video Games for sponsoring the division. We worked on this thing, we built this car new three years ago new and it’s been a struggle getting this thing up front. We’ve been getting closer, closer every week and finally, it’s here”.

In the second Super Street feature, Chris Roberts assumes the pole by the mandatory invert, race one winner Randy Akers would start eighth. Green flag waved and it was Chris Roberts taking advantage of his race pole with the early lead. Laps later, Bill Eaker Jr was able to get to the bumper of the race leader and soon after claim the race lead. After a quick caution to the event, race leader Bill Eaker Jr had his hands full with Sammy Gaita and Dale Parro as the race was in its latter stages. With three laps to go, Dale Parro gives the race leader Eaker Jr a shove and spins in turn two but manages to keep going avoiding the caution. From there it was Parro as the leader but then came Sean Calway for the lead and would go on to win the second Super Street division feature. Calway from Victory Lane, “I was just so happy that the caution didn’t come out, listen, they’re all great drivers in the Super Street division. Its really a great thing, tonight just happens to be Reinhart Night at the Races and Reinhart is my sponsor. So, what a great day to have a win it’s just unbelievable”.

Harris Truck Shop Super Trucks 25 Laps: Dustin Mullins was another first time pole sitter in the Super Truck race division. The lap set at 19.398 seconds bested the effort of Jacob Carr but fast enough for a share of the front row. In the highly contested points race for the Super Truck division championship, the green flag was shown to the field and into turn one they would

go. Emerging out of turn two with the lead was pole sitter Dustin Mullins with Jacob Carr in tow. Moving through the field was Chase McAdams who soon found himself in second after starting seventh in the grid. But back up front, Mullins had a half a straightaway lead and a very fast truck. Latter portions of the race saw McAdams needing a caution and fortunately, the late race caution came bunching up the field. Restart to the race saw Dustin Mullins hold on to his race lead as McAdams and Klein battled for second. But for Mullins, he would motor on to the strip for his first win of the season. Dustin Mullins from Victory Lane, “Yeah, we’ve been working hard for a while trying to get this”, said race winner Dustin Mullins. “I’m tickled to death, gotta thank my dad and my brother who have helped me out a tremendous bunch. But closing in on the leader was Alex Floroff before settling on back and mirroring the line of race leader Quinn. Several laps into the feature, business picked up when Dustin Connor began to mix it up with Floroff but the leader was not getting away. Soon after, Alex Floroff managed to catch the leader and make the pass with Connor following. Final laps in the event, Connor would try to track down the leader but would run out laps, Alex Floroff would go on to win his second Enduro feature.
