MANASSAS, VA – After picking up his sixth win of the season last Saturday evening, Mason Diaz is heading into Saturday night’s doubleheader at Motor Mile Speedway in Virginia riding a wave of momentum.

After winning at Caraway Speedway on June 30th in the Rusty Harpe Memorial, Diaz backed that effort up with a victory at Southern National Motorsports Park on July 8th – adding to his win total and adding to his point lead at the Lucama, North Carolina short track.  This weekend, Diaz will face some of Late Model Stock Car racing’s elite drivers at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia.

“My expectations for going into Motor Mile are no different than the rest of the season,” Diaz said.  “I want to show up and be a contender. I want to get a good finish to help me with division one points.”

Diaz’s win in the Rusty Harpe Memorial, Caraway Speedway’s marquee Late Model Stock Car race, boosted the Manassas, Virginia driver’s confidence.  The win at Caraway was Diaz’s first in a Late Model Stock Car out of the confines of his home track at Southern National Motorsports Park.  Not only did his confidence level get a boost, the victory also allowed Diaz to make a statement about his improvement as a driver this season.

“Caraway did boost my confidence a lot,” Diaz explained.  “The field that I raced against at Caraway had a lot of talent and for me to be able to win against those kinds of guys shows that not only me but Mike Darne Racing is able to race against them and be a contender.  To get a win away from my home track shows that I have improved as a driver.  That I can show up to any track and run up front.  Also, able to contain myself and win in a distance race because that was my first long race that I have won.”

After his most recent victories, Diaz continues to chase his goals in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.  He is currently fourth in points in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series North Carolina championship standings and is the highest ranked rookie in the state.

Diaz is continuing to chase points in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series while also hoping to keep racking up race wins and top-five finishes.

“My Goals for the rest of the season are not that different from the first half of the season,” Diaz commented.  “I want to be a contender everywhere we go.  I also want to get good finishes and hop fully some more wins.  Hopefully with doing that I will get the titles that we are going for this season.”

To date, Diaz has six wins, 14 top-five finishes and 21 top-10 finishes in NASCAR sanctioned competition.  His victory on Saturday night extended his points lead in the track championship standings at Southern National Motorsports Park.

Following this weekend’s race at Motor Mile Speedway, Mason Diaz will compete in Hickory Motor Speedway on July 22nd and then travel north to Dominion Raceway in Northern Virginia on July 29th.  Other upcoming races for Mason Diaz include: Hickory Motor Speedway on August 12th, Southern National Motorsports Park on August 19th, Carteret County Speedway on August 26th and September 3rd, Southern National Motorsports Park on September 10th and East Carolina Motor Speedway on September 16th along with a handful of other to be determined races.

Mason Diaz is supported by The Sign Shop, Mike Darne Racing, Prince William Marina, Concord Automotive and Convenience Car Care. To learn more about Mason Diaz Racing, check out his website at www.masondiaz24.com“like” Mason Diaz Racing on Facebook or follow @masondiazracing on Twitter.
