HAMPTON -- Greg Edwards continued to show the strength that carried him to the past two Late Model Division titles at Langley Speedway, while Matt Waltz flashed a return to the form that netted him 12 victories in the division three years ago.
They each earned a victory in the Courtyard by Marriott twin 66-lappers in front of the third consecutive large crowd at the track this season. Edwards won the opener by leading all 66 laps, before Waltz led the final 64 laps in winning the nightcap.
Edwards, who won the season-opening 100-lapper, qualified on the pole for the first 66-lapper -- the distance signifying the 66 years Langley has been in existence. Waltz started second, Nick Smith third and Danny Edwards Jr. fourth.
For the first 15 laps, Waltz and Smith trailed Greg Edwards closely. Having to run so hard so early to fend them off concerned Greg Edwards.
