Chapman and Matthews Split Twin 50's At Southern National Motorsports Park Season Opener

The 2016 Greater Smithfield/ Selma Chamber of Commerce Southern National Motorsports Park season opener kicked off with huge car counts last night. The weather was cold but the on track action was red hot. The Nascar Whelen All American Series BK Racing Late Model Stock car division ran twin 50 lappers and Chris Chapman was victorious in the first of the twins. Michael Fose had a great run to score a 2nd place finish when the checkered flag flew followed by Ronald Renfrow, Tim Allensworth and Joe Hiegl Garner, N.C. rounding out the top 5 finishers. The 2nd twin winner was Tyler Matthews who tamed the field to visit victory lane. Knightdale speedster Bradley McCaskill came home with a second place finish with Chris Chapman rounding out the podium. Brandon Hobbs and Nick Leitz roared under the stripe in 4th and 5th place.
The Bandolero feature winner Josh Kossek held off Blaise Brinkley, who overcame a early race spin to score his first victory of the young season. Brinkley roared back through the field to finish second with Ethan Elder, Cole Bruce and Ethan Johnson your top 5 finishers.
The Charger Winner Robert Arch of Raleigh continued his winning ways in victory lane following the 35 lap feature event. Arch held off the hard charging advances of Michael Obrien to secure the victory. Jeremy Bohne, Brian Obiedzenski and Mike Jones rounded out the top 5 finishers.
Dillon Spain, Clayton continued his winning ways in the Legends division racking up another victory in the 20 car field. Spain held off Tommy Jackson, Jr. and Will Bristle to visit victory lane. Mason Diaz and Ryan Polentz ran 4th and 5th in the feature that saw 3 and 4 wide racing during the feature.
The hard chargers of the UCAR division once again put on a whale of a show with Travis Miller standing in victory lane after 45 action packed laps. Ronnie "Buckshot" Jones roared under the waving checkered flag in 2nd place. Brandon Allen, David West and Mike Lucas rounded out your top 5 positions.
The Vintage Southern Ground Pounders Touring Series put on a great 25 lap feature race with Willow Spring driver Rodney Dye and Mack Tatum from Virginia victorious in the Modified and Sportsman combo event.
Southern National Motorsports Park will be back in action in 2 weeks
