LUCAMA, NC – Southern National Motorsports Park is bringing the Street Stock division back in the Dog Days Clash on August 1st.
The Street Stocks will return operating under the rules in the Mid-Atlantic Street Stock (MASS) Championship Series, a series that will race at Southern National on August 29th.
“We’re excited to bring the Street Stock division back to Southern National Motorsports Park,” track promoter Langley Austin said. “It’s a popular division with the fans and always entertaining. This is a division that we need to work on to build going forward and hopefully bring back on a more regular basis in 2016.”
Austin feels the division’s resurgence will carry over at Southern National on August 1st. The Street Stock race will pay $750-to-win, $75-to-start and will run on scuff Hoosier F-45 tires.
“The Street Stock division has grown tremendously across the region in the past year,” Austin stated. “Ron Barfield, who owns Dillon Motor Speedway and runs the MASS Street Stock series, has done a great job to help give this division new life. It was a premier division at Southern National in the past and it can be again with the right footwork.
“This race offers the perfect tune-up for those drivers getting ready to compete with us on August 29th in the official MASS Series event. We’re looking forward to these appearances by the Street Stock cars and hopefully we’ll be able to add them to our program for either the Thanksgiving Classic or Halloween Spooktacular or both.”
A NASCAR license is not required for Street Stock competitors, so drivers from Dillon Motor Speedway and other unsanctioned tracks are welcome to race in the Street Stock feature.
The Street Stocks will join the Late Models, Chargers, Legends, U-CARs, Bandoleros and the $1,000-to-win Enduro Derby in the Dog Days Clash on August 1st.
