South Boston, Va. --

The region’s top NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division competitors will converge on South Boston Speedway Saturday night, June 28, for the running of the Whelen Night NASCAR Late Model Twin 75s racing program.

A total of five action-packed events are scheduled Saturday, with the first race of the night slated to roll to the green flag at 7 p.m.

Highlighting the Whelen Night NASCAR Late Model Twin 75s racing program will be a pair of 75-lap shootouts for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

Also scheduled Saturday night are races for the competitors in the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the touring Legendary Ford Flatheads Racing Association.

Former NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Peyton Sellers has reeled off five victories thus far this season at America’s Hometown Track and sits in first place in the chase for the 2014 track championship. Sellers is also a former South Boston Speedway champion.

Former track champion Matt Bowling has not visited Victory Lane this season in NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car action at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval; however, his consistent finishes has him in second place in the championship standings.

Austin Thaxton, a one-time winner this season, is third in the Late Model Stock Car standings. He is only 19 points behind Bowling. Thaxton owns a 21-point advantage over fourth-place Bobby McCarty, while Bruce Anderson occupies the fifth-place spot. Anderson is only seven points behind McCarty.

On the strength of three triumphs thus far in 2014, Trey Crews is the leader in the battle for the Limited Sportsman Division championship.

Crews is 12 points ahead of second-place J.D. Eversole, who has motored to two wins this year. Tommy Peregoy is third in the points race. He is 10 points behind Eversole.

Defending division champion Danny Willis Jr., who has scored one win this season, is in fourth place in the standings. He is five points behind Peregoy and only one point ahead of fifth-place Daryn Cockram.

Greg Autry has rolled to four victories in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division this season and has opened a nine-point lead over one-time winner Bruce Mayo in the battle for the track title.

Harrison Walker is in third place in the standings. He is 17 points behind Mayo and four points ahead of fourth-place Johnny Layne. Jimmy Wade sits in the fifth spot in the standings. He is six points behind Layne.

Pit gates will open on Saturday at 2 p.m. and practice for all divisions will be held from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Qualifying time trials will roll off at 5:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open 5 p.m.

Admission will be $10 for adults. Children, ages six and under, will be admitted free with a paid adult.
