South Boston, Va. --
South Boston Speedway’s first-ever Pit Party was a success.
The sound of music permeated the air in and around the .4-mile oval Saturday afternoon as an enthusiastic crowd of music lovers gathered to enjoy great music from three bands and a beautiful spring afternoon.
Saturday’s concert at America’s Hometown Track, staged by South Boston Speedway in conjunction with Crewser Entertainment, featured “Tuesday’s Gone” with special musical guests “The Konnection Band,” and “Matt Boswell and The Hillbilly Blues Band.”
“For a first-time venture, I feel like it was a success,” South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice said at the conclusion of the event.
“It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves on such a beautiful afternoon. I think everybody enjoyed the variety of music that was offered by these three very entertaining bands and we very much appreciate the effort that the members of the bands put into their performance to make the concert a success.”
“Tuesday’s Gone,” the ultimate tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd, closed out the show, belting out all of the great Lynyrd Skynyrd hits. From the signature Skynyrd sound to the energy the original band possessed, to the unmistakable look, Tuesday’s Gone put it all together in one great package.
The Konnection Band, one of the East Coast's premiere party bands, specializing in a variety of music including Top 40, Rock, Country, R&B, Beach and Oldies, opened the concert playing a number of crowd favorites. The band has played at numerous festivals and events including the Virginia Pork Festival and Virginia Cantaloupe Festival.
Matt Boswell & The Hillbilly Blues Band was the second performer of the day. The group performed a number of country songs from the past and present as well as music that touched the roots of bluegrass music.
