South Boston, Va. --
Music will fill the air at South Boston Speedway Saturday afternoon.
This weekend, for the first time, America’s Hometown Track, in conjunction with Crewser Entertainment, will host the South Boston Pit Party on Saturday. The event will feature “Tuesday’s Gone” with special musical guests “The Konnection Band,” and “Matt Boswell and the Hillbilly Blues Band.”
Tuesday’s Gone is the ultimate tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd. From the signature Skynyrd sound to the sheer raw power that the original band possessed, to the unmistakable look they had, Tuesday’s Gone has it all covered. The band has received many rave reviews.
“We’ve had some of the best touring tributes on the East Coast and by far, Tuesday’s Gone was one of the best we ever had — great band and great people,” Scott Grafton, of the Morehead Center in Morehead City, N.C., said.
Elliot Broyles, Vice President of the Sponsor Hounds, booked Tuesday’s Gone for the Blue Ridge Bike fest and said, “In the fourth and fifth years of the Blue Ridge Bike Fest, Tuesday’s Gone drew more people than all of our other bands combined. The band plays Skynyrd the way it should be played and we constantly get compliments for having booked them.”
The Konnection Band is one of the East Coast's premiere party bands, specializing in a variety of music including Top 40, Rock, Country, R&B, Beach and Oldies. They have played at numerous festivals and events including the Virginia Pork Festival and Virginia Cantaloupe Festival. The Konnection Band is known to bring the party no matter the occasion.
Matt Boswell & The Hillbilly Blues Band are well known for their energetic and song packed performances. Matt Boswells’ roots of bluegrass and traditional country combined with the bands diverse musical backgrounds create a wonderful original country sound.
Gates will open Saturday at noon with music starting at 1:30 p.m. Advance tickets are available until 5 p.m. Friday, April 11 and priced at $15. Tickets on the day of the event will be priced at $20.
The event will be held rain or shine.
Concession stands will be open on the day of the South Boston Pit Party, and concert attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Fans can sit in the infield for the concert or in the grandstands.
