Danville Toyota NASCAR Whelen Late Model Twin 100 will open SoBo’s season March 15

The long-awaited start to the 2014 season at South Boston Speedway is just over one week away.
The green flag will wave for the start of the new NASCAR Whelen All American Series campaign at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval on Saturday, March 15. The season-opening event will feature an afternoon starting time of 2 p.m.
The Danville Toyota NASCAR Whelen Late Model Twin 100 racing program will open the 2014 season. The featured attractions of the day will be a pair of 100-lap shootouts for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.
Also highlighting the four-race program will be events for the Limited Sportsman Division and the Budweiser Pure Stock Division.
Pit gates will open on March 15 at 9 a.m. and practice for all divisions will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A mandatory meeting for drivers will be held at 11:45 p.m. and qualifying time trials will roll off at 12:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open for the first event of the campaign at noon.
Admission will be $10 for adults. Children, ages six and under, will be admitted free with a paid adult. Season tickets, priced at only $150, currently remain on sale and can be purchased at the speedway office.
Prior to the season-opening event on Saturday, March 15, South Boston Speedway competitors will have an opportunity to get in some last-minute testing this weekend when America’s Hometown Track hosts its annual Open Practice and Media Day on Saturday, March 8.
Registration and pit gates will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday for the open practice session, and practice for all divisions will begin at 10 a.m. The morning practice session will conclude at noon. Following a lunch break at noon, practice for all divisions will crank back up at 1 p.m. and continue until 4 p.m. The pit garage will close at 5 p.m.
