Green flag will wave at SoBo Saturday at 3 p.m. for running of Emergency Services Day program

The weather forecast for Saturday is fabulous. The outlook is also promising for great racing competition when South Boston Speedway returns to action for the running of the Emergency Services Day event.
The three-race event will have a special starting time of 3 p.m.
All emergency services personnel will receive $5 off gate admission Saturday afternoon by presenting a valid identification card. The discount applies to police officers, firemen, emergency management technicians, etc.
Headlining Saturday afternoon's racing action will be a 200-lap shootout for competitors in the Limited Sportsman Division. Many of the top Limited Sportsman drivers from the region are expected to be on hand for the event.
Justin Snow, 2005 South Boston Speedway Limited champion, and rival Jonathan Bailey, 2004 Limited champion, are expected to duke it out Saturday afternoon for what could be their last race in the Limited Sportsman division. Both have expressed interest in moving up to the Barkhouser Late Model division at for the 2006 campaign.
Also slated for action at America's Hometown Track Saturday are the Late Model Trucks and the Virginia Army National Guard Pure Stock Division. The Late Model Trucks will hit the four-tenths mile asphalt oval for a 100-lap race, while the Pure Stock competitors will wage battle for 75 circuits.
Grandstand gates will open Saturday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 1:30 p.m.
Adult general admission tickets are available at the speedway office through Friday, Sept. 30 for a discounted price of $10. Adult general admission on the day of the race will be $15. Youth, ages 10-15, will be admitted for $10 and children, ages nine and under, will be admitted free with a paid adult.
