Randleman’s Ryan Wilson & Selma’s Lee Pulliam Each Take Home A Win In The Controversial Twin 50 Lap Feature Events

Sophia, NC. --

For Immediate Release

Caraway Speedway hosted Twin 50 Lap Nascar Late Model Stock features Sunday afternoon after rain on Saturday postponed the event.  In the first 50 Lap feature Dan Moore of Bear Creek lead most of the laps and appeared to be the car to beat.   A determined Lee Pulliam of Selma, continued to work his way to the front and late in the race passed Moore for the lead and the win.  Ryan Wilson of Randleman, Mack Little III of Kernersville, Robert Tyler of Roswell, GA, Jay Payne of Lexington, Randy Benson of Rockingham, Matt Bowling, Eric Winslow and Brad Cox rounded out the top ten finishers of the 23 car field.

In the second 50 Lap event the controversy began over halfway into the race when Pulliam was penalized for beating the leader (Wilson)  across the start/finish line on a restart.  Pulliam is brought down pit road under green and comes back out on the track in the 18th position.  He begins driving the wheels off the car and making risky moves, including several three and four wide passes.  Cars began to wreck and cautions continue to be displayed.  Pulliam used the re-start cone several times to advance his position and eventually he is beside of race leader Wilson.  Caraway goes back to the last completed green flag lap, thus causing the race to continue for multiple laps.  Once the green flag is displayed the whole field has to cross the start finish line before the caution is displayed to be a complete lap.   Lap 48 continued to be multiple cautions causing the field to have to be lined back up to the last green flag lap.  Several cars kept having to be moved back to the last completed lap (47).  In the end Wilson captured his second win of the season, while Pulliam went home with a disappointing 12th place finish and a wrecked race car.  Little, Bowling, Moore, Tyler, Winslow, Cox, Benson, Pete Stewart of Archdale and Thomas Scott rounded out the top ten finishers.

In the 30 Lap BK Auto Limited Late Model event Thomasville’s Junior Kendrick captured his second win of the season.  Carl Auman of High Point, Ryan Brown of Troy, Paul Wark of Winston Salem and Justin Newlin of China Grove rounded out the top five finishers.

Danny Brewer of Lexington, Allen Vance of Randleman and Jimmy Cooper of Asheboro took home the top three positions in Street Stock.

Tommy Raino of Thomasville, Brian Rose of Asheboro and Gary Dillard of Thomasville took home the top three positions in the Auto & Metal Recycler Hornets.

AJ Sanders of Mocksville, Zack Bralley of Asheboro and John Davis of Lexington took home the top three positions in the Bib’s Downtown Mini Stock event.

Jimmy Crigger of Lexington, Triston Hesse of Sophia and Sean Grant of Asheboro took home the top three positions in the Auto & Metal Recycler U-Car event.

Justin Bolton, Joe Ryan Osborne and Keven Wood where the top three Legends finishers.

Our next event is Whelen Night Presented by USG on Friday August 24th featuring Twin 50 Lap Late Model Stocks and Twin Madhouse Scramble Modifieds.  Also on hand will be the BK Auto Limited Late Models, Bib’s Downtown Mini Stocks, Mini Trucks, Street Stocks and the Auto & Meta Recycler U-Cars and Hornets.   Grandstands open at 6pm  and the racing action gets underway at 8pm.  For additional information hit the web at  www.carawayspeedway.com or contact the speedway office at 336-629-5803.
