American National Bank presents Charles Anderson Lawn Care Night Late Model 150 scheduled Saturday, Aug. 4

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — After taking a weekend off this week, South Boston Speedway will roar back into action on Saturday, Aug. 4, for the running of the American National Bank presents Charles Anderson Lawn Care Night Late Model 150 racing program.
The NASCAR Whelen All American Series night of racing will get cranked up at 7 p.m. and will feature five action-packed events on the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval.
The featured attractions of the night will be a 150-lap race for the competitors in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division and twin battles for the drivers in the Limited Sportsman Division.
Also scheduled on Aug. 4 will be races for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the regional touring Legendary Ford Flatheads Racing Association.
Matthew Bowling, a one-time winner and a model of consistency throughout the season, continues to sit atop the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division standings.
Bowling owns a 33-point cushion over two-time winner Peyton Sellers, who is a former South Boston Speedway champion and a former NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion.
Lee Pulliam, who has motored to seven wins at America’s Hometown Track this season, is third in the standings and is only five points behind Sellers. Pulliam, who has 14 overall wins for the season, is currently in first place in the chase for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series national championship.
Bobby McCarty, who scored a pair of victories in Limited Sportsman Division action last weekend to push his victory total for the campaign to six, sits atop the standings in the chase for the division crown this year.
McCarty is 27 points ahead of five-time winner Danny Willis Jr., while Blake Stallings is third and is 11 points ahead of fourth-place Mike Jones.
Joe Allred III continues to lead in the chase for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division championship; however, his advantage has been trimmed to only one point by second-place Trey Crews. Randy Hupp is third in the standings, while Courtney Crosby is fourth.
Pit registration for the American National Bank presents Charles Anderson Lawn Care Night Late Model 150 racing program will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Aug. 4. Practice for all divisions will be held from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and admission will be $10 for adults and children under the age of six will be admitted free with a paid adult.
