The fans packed into the stands at Caraway Speedway for the special $5 Fan Spectacular Night. Fans were treated to a night full of action as several driver’s let their tempers get the best of them after on track altercations that left a few torn up race cars.
Twin 50 Lap events slated for the Nascar Late Model Stocks sent only one driver to victory lane, Atlanta, GA’s Robert Tyler won both events. In the first event Mack Little III of Kernersville took home a strong second place finish. Alex Yontz of Walnut Cove, Dan Moore of Bear Creek, Ryan Wilson of Randleman, Jay Payne of High Point, Scott Hall of Pfafftown, Eric Winslow of VA, Gene Kepley of Lexington and Randy Benson of Rockingham rounded out the top ten finishers.
In the second event the mayhem began on a restart in which the leader Moore received a stop and go penalty (served under caution) for changing lanes before crossing the start finish line; while Little and Kepley get together sending Little spinning. Little comes back under caution and gets up to Kepley and lets him know how upset he is. After the race is over Kepley climbs out of his car and charges at Little as security and Track Officials scramble to control them. Tyler is in the midst of his second victory lane interview, which is interrupted by the commotion. “Wow, what an awesome night!” stated Tyler when the interview resumes. Yontz, Wilson, Kepley, Payne, Benson, RD Smith of Burlington, Little, Moore and Hall rounded out the top ten finishers.
In the 30 Lap BK Auto Limited Late Model event Ryan Brown of Troy captured his first win of the season. Carl Auman of High Point, Paul Wark of Winston Salem, Brandon Setzer of Hickory (Son of Touring Series Driver Dennis Setzer) and Justin Newlin of Salisbury rounded out the top five finishers.
In the 20 Lap Bib’s Downtown Mini Stock event the Warr & Sanders saga continued as the two got together on the front stretch sending Andrew Sanders up on the wall, flipping his father A J Sanders upside down and severly damaging Johnny Warr’s car also. Once again Mayhem breaks loose as the drivers climb from their wrecked race cars and go after each other. Track Officials and Security quickly get the incident under control as the fans go wild in the stands. After a lengthy red flag the race resumes and Michael Kitchin is flagged the winner but refused to let track officials look at his intake and head. He is disqualified giving the win to Zack Bralley of Asheboro. Johnny Baker of Asheboro, Allen Hornaday of Carthage, Robert Moreau of Winston Salem and John Davis of Lexington rounded out the top five finishers.
Auto & Metal Recyclers U-Car winners were Ben Hanks of Lexington (Pro), Thomas McCoy of Asheboro (SP) and Richie Placer of Burlington (R ). Gary Dillard of Lexington took home his fourth win in the Auto & Metal Recycler Hornets division. Tyler McDonald of Lexington took home the win in the Mini Trucks and Danny Brewer of Lexington took home the win in Street Stocks. Legends winners were Austin Thompson (Young Lion & Overall), Jason Austin (Semi Pro) Jan Ingram (Master) and Jake Cole (Pro).
