5/28/12- Thirteen year old Cole Timm picked up his second PASS/CCS Super Limited Series win Saturday night at the Concord Speedway in front of a healthy crowd in the grandstands. Timm was the recipient of good fortune when Kyle Beattie experienced a flat right front tire while leading on a lap forty-three restart. Beattie crossed the finish line in the second place position, but for the second time this season was disqualified and delegated to last position putting Austin Leitner in the runner up spot. Youngster Justin Carroll welcomed himself back to the series with a solid third place finish to round out the podium.
“This is awesome win tonight here at Concord in front of all these race fans. Our car started out real loose, but then the caution that Beattie cut down the tire our car tightened up and we were right where we needed to be,” stated Timm in victory lane. “I really just want to thank my parents, Triad, NOS Energy drink, and Preston Peltier. This is his old PASS car and ever since we bought it from him he has really helped us get to where we are now.”
It was disqualified driver Kyle Beattie who started from the pole position after Just Carroll set fast time and redrew the fifth and final position possible during the series redraw of the top five drivers. Timm settled into the second position for the first five laps before passing Beattie’s #28 machine for the lead on lap six. Timm paced the field for the next thirty-one laps with Beattie directly in tow. Finally on lap thirty-eight Beattie would make his move and take back over the top spot during the extended green flag run.
Finally for the first time of the night the yellow flag would slow the field due to an incident involving fast qualifier Justin Carroll and two time series winner Austin Leitner battling for third. Just as the green flag was waived to put the field back under racing conditions Kyle Beattie brought the yellow back out due to a flat right front tire stalling his machine on track. This played right into what Cole Timm needed to cruise his way to his second win of the year after having already won at Ace Speedway on April 28th.
Next up for the CCS/PASS Super Limited Late Models is the CCS/PASS Firecracker 50 at the Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, South Carolina on Tuesday night July 3rd.
