A nettlesome line of showers, which descended right at the end of time trials, spelled a premature end to Saturday's Whelen/USG Night program at Langley Speedway. Officials decided to call the event shortly after 7 p.m.
Qualifying for the Cycle City Corp. INEX Legends, SavitaPets.com UCARs and Standard Welding Pro Sixes was completed before the washout.

Only 18-thousandths of a second separated Bill Eaker and points leader Sammy Gaita in UCAR qualifying. Eaker's pole-winning speed was 71.942 mph. Denver Alvis, Tim Wilson and Michael Joyner were third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the time trial results.
Circling the Langley oval at 79.995 mph, Bobby Hall topped Nelson Moody by 29-thousandths of a second to nab the Pro Six pole. J.B. Sipe, Steve Williams and Casey Sipe rounded out the top five.
Thirteen EZ Auto in Newport News Late Model Stock Car drivers had posted laps before the rains came. When activities were halted, Doug Godsey topped the leaderboard, at 88.970 mph. Wes Falk was second-quickest, 38-thousandths of a second off Godsey's pace. C.E. Falk was third, followed by Danny Edwards Jr. and Langley newcomer Kenny Forbes.
The KeesVacations.com Modifieds return next Saturday, May 12, when NASCAR action resumes at Langley with Racing For Hope Foundation/Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters Night.
In addition to the Mods, the May 12 lineup includes the Pepsi Grand Stocks (Twin 20s), Heritage Motor Co. Super Streets, Cycle City Corp. INEX Legends, Xtreme Mechanical Services INEX Bandoleros and Cook's Moving Service Enduros.
Front gates open and practice begins at 2 p.m. The drivers meeting is slated for 4:15, followed by qualifying at 4:30. Pre-race ceremonies start at 6:55 and racing gets under way at 7.
