South Boston, Va --
America’s Hometown Track will offer a tripleheader of exciting Late Model racing action Saturday night when the green flag falls for the start of the PASS Super Late Model presented by the Gazette-Virginian race program.
Highlighting the tripleheader of racing action will be a 150-lap battle for the competitors in the touring PASS Super Late Model Series. The series will be making its second stop of the season at South Boston Speedway. Andy Loden motored to Victory Lane when the PASS Series roared into South Boston in May.
Also scheduled will be twin 75-lap races for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model Stock Car Division and a race for the touring Legends Series competitors.
After sweeping a pair of wins last weekend, former South Boston Speedway champion Philip Morris, who is also a three-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion, now owns a track-record of 16 triumphs on the four-tenths mile asphalt oval in 2011.
Morris has essentially locked up the 2011 NASCAR Whelen All American Series track championship at South Boston Speedway, but he is still mired in a three-way battle for a fourth national championship with defending crown holder Keith Rocco and Lee Pulliam, who also competed last weekend at America’s Hometown Track.
In addition, Morris and Pulliam are in a tight battle for the NASCAR Whelen All American Virginia state championship.
Advance tickets for the Aug. 20 tripleheader of racing action are currently on sale and priced at $10 each. Advance tickets can be purchased before 5 pm on Friday, Aug. 19, at the speedway office.
Tickets on race day will be priced at $15 each. Youth will be admitted for $5 when accompanied by a paying adult. Children 6 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.
Practice will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday. Grandstand gates will open Saturday, Aug. 20, at 4:30 p.m. Qualifying time trials will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by a Fan Appreciation Session trackside from 5:45 p.m. until 6:45 p.m.
