Miller Dominates At Caraway Speedway

Mooresville, NC --

2007 Champion now holds all-time win mark in NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 6, 2011) – Finally, everything went his way for an entire race.

After running up front in almost every race this season, only to see circumstances keep him out of victory lane, L.W. Miller got a chance to celebrate Friday night and he did it in impressive fashion.

Miller passed pole-sitter Brian Loftin on lap 7 and went on to win the Firecracker 150 presented by Budweiser at Caraway Speedway. He dominated the race lap by lap to pick up his 12th career victory on the Tour. This solidified his spot with the all-time win record in the NASCAR Touring series.

Miller led 151 of the 158 laps in the race and rebounded from his last appearance at Caraway Speedway in April, when mechanical problems forced him out of the race early and he finished in 18th-place.

With his performance this season, Miller knew it wasn’t a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’ he would get back in the win column.

“We have had a great season and Tony (Templeton) and the guys give me an awesome race car to drive every week we just haven’t had the finishes to show for it,” Miller said. “Once again I am out there leading with a good race car and here come the cautions.”

The two late cautions erased a comfortable lead Miller had over Brunnhoelzl before the field was bunched up for the green-white-checkered finishes.

“We have been running so well all year and we haven’t had the chance to celebrate. Now we can,” Miller said.

Miller is racing with the same team but he has some new support this season on the car and that has made a really big difference.

“The Bakers and Tony (Templeton) have always given me a great car and this year we also have two great sponsors in Speedco and Lucas Oil,” Miller said. “Our new partners have really helped us take our team to a new level and we still have plenty of races left to challenge for the title.”

As for the record amount of wins, Miller keeps it in perspective.

“The race record is nice and we are going to keep going after wins, but we really want another championship so we can celebrate with Lucas Oil and Speedco this time,” said Miller.

Miller will return to action with the No. 36 Lucas Oil/Speedco Chevrolet on August 6th at Bowman Gray Stadium in the Strutmaster.com 199. Miller won the event last year.

The victory helped Miller climb up to fourth from sixth in the point standings.
