The 4th Annual Dwight Huffman Memorial Race for Charity presented by Arby's & Pepsi MAX originally scheduled for July 8 and 9 has been rescheduled for the weekend of October 15th and 16th. The Dwight Huffman Memorial will now be run in conjunction with the Inaugural Breast Cancer Awareness Limited Late Model 150, originally scheduled for October 22.
The two-day show will feature 407 laps of green flag racing. “This is going to be the biggest and best short track event in the southeast,” said Dwight Huffman Memorial promoter Doug Houser. The two-day event will include 177-laps feature for the Late Models, 100 laps of racing action for the Limited Late Models and 50 laps for the Street Stocks & 50-laps for the UCARS & 30 laps for the Renegades.
All divisions will practice and qualify on Saturday, October 15 and the Street Stocks, UCARS and Renegades will run their feature events to cap off the evening. The Late Models and Limited Late Models will compete in their feature events on Sunday, October 16 closing out the event. An open practice will be held on Friday, October 14 for all drivers competing during the weekend’s events.
The weekend’s events will run in efforts to raise funds for East Burke, Eastern Catawba & South Caldwell Counties Cooperative Christian Ministries that will benefit those in need in our local communities. The event will also support a new program at Frye Care located in Hickory, N.C. to help women under the age of 40 in the Catawba County area who cannot afford mammograms, to promote the benefits of early breast cancer detection.
Advanced Two-day tickets will be available for purchase beginning Monday September 5th, at area Arby’s locations. Fans can purchase their two-day tickets at Arby's for only $10.00 for Adults and $7.00 for Teens & Seniors. At the Gate Two Day tickets will be $15.00 for Adults and $10.00 for Teens & Seniors.
Previous Dwight Huffman Memorial Races have contributed over $ 21,000 to the Cooperative Christian Ministries partners and the fans have benefited as well receiving over $ 25,000 worth of prizes.
Racers competing in the 4th Annual Dwight Huffman Memorial Race for Charity will be battling for over $ 52,000 in prize money.
