South Boston, Va…….Philip Morris of Ruckersville, Va. extended his win streak at South Boston Speedway to six in a row here Saturday night with a sweep of the NASCAR Whelen Late Model Twin 75’s racing program.

Morris outran Frank Deiny Jr. of Ashland, Va. in a 15-lap sprint to the finish to win the first of the night’s two 75-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car Division races. His margin of victory was 1.122 second.

Jeb Burton of Halifax, Va., Josh Oakley of Rougemont, N.C. and Natalie Sather of Fargo, N.D. rounded out the top five finishers.

Morris had a tough time of it in the nightcap, battling and holding off Sather through a pair of restarts in the final 15 laps of the race. Sather grabbed the lead on the next-to-last restart and led two laps before Morris regained the lead.

It was all Morris after the final restart, which came with five laps to go as he cleared Sather and sped to a 1.243-second win.

Bruce Anderson of South Boston, Va. finished third with two-time defending track champion Justin Johnson of Durham, N.C. and Michael Hardin of Pomfret, Md. rounding out the top five finishers.

Morris averaged 54.379 mph in winning the first race, which was slowed by two caution periods. He averaged 49.941 mph in winning the second race, which was slowed by three caution periods.

            Loden Wins PASS South 150

Andy Loden of Staley, N.C. surged past race leader Philip Morris with 21 laps to go and survived a late bid from Preston Peltier of Harrisburg, N.C. after the race’s final restart with eight laps to go to win the PASS South Super Late Model 150.

Loden edged runner-up Peltier by .148-second, or about a car length to earn his first win of the season and his fourth career win in the series.

Morris, who made his PASS South Super Late Model debut, finished third after having led the race three times for 117 laps.

Stephen Nasse of Pinellas Park, Fla. and Ryan Blaney of High Point, N.C. rounded out the top five finishers.

Loden averaged 49.432 mph in the race that was slowed by nine caution periods.
