NASCAR K&N Pro Series, Whelen Southern Modified Tour to run at SoBo April 16

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — The stars and cars of the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will invade South Boston Speedway for a special doubleheader of racing action Saturday night, April 16.
Both touring series will compete in 150-lap races with the first event of the evening getting the green flag at 7 p.m.
Prior to racing action Saturday night, fans will have an opportunity to meet Burt and Jason Myers, along with Tim Brown and Chase Elliott during a special Fan Appreciation Session held trackside Saturday from 5:15 p.m. until 6:15 p.m.
The visit to America’s Hometown Track will mark the third straight season the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour has visited the four-tenths mile asphalt oval. It will also be the third race of the 2011 season for the tour.
George Brunnhoelzl III, the 2009 series champion, has scored wins in each of the first two events of the campaign. Both of those wins, however, came when drivers in front of him encountered late-race difficulties.
The visit to South Boston Speedway by the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will mark its fifth consecutive year of racing action on the four-tenths mile oval.
Saturday’s event will be the second of the year for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. In season-opening action at Greenville-Pickens (S.C.) Speedway, Brett Moffitt led flag-to-flag to score a victory.
Advance adult tickets are on sale for $15 up until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 15. Adult general admission tickets at the gate will be $20. Tickets for youth ages 7-12 are priced at $10 each. Kids ages 6 and under will be admitted free with a paying adult.
The competitors in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Series will begin arriving at South Boston Speedway on Friday, April 15. Practice for the two divisions will begin Saturday, April 16, at 11:15 a.m.
Grandstand gates will open on Saturday, April 16, at 3 p.m. and qualifying for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will begin at 3:45 p.m. Qualifying for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East is scheduled to commence at 4:30 p.m.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race will start the evening of action off at 7 p.m. and will be followed by the 150-lap event for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.
