Update: Modifieds top Saturday's 6-race slate Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Shawn Balluzzo, Thomas Stinson and Rusty Wood
resume their battle for the 2010 B&C Seafood Modified championship this
Saturday, Aug. 28, as Langley Speedway heads into the more Mod-centric
portion of its NASCAR Whelen All-American Series campaign.
This Saturday’s feature lineup includes: Modifieds (50 laps); Pepsi
Grand Stocks (40 laps); Langley Fan Club Super Streets (40 laps); Larry
King Law Super Trucks (25 laps); EZ Auto of Newport News UCARs (25
laps); and, Standard Welding Pro Sixes (30 laps).
Front gates open at 1 p.m. and afternoon practice gets under way at 2.
Qualifying is slated for 4:30, following a 4:15 drivers meeting.
Pre-race festivities start at 6:45 and the first feature contest goes
green shortly after 7.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 6-12. “Little Race Fans”
(under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Military
personnel (active-duty or retired, with ID) and senior citizens (60+,
with ID) receive a $2 discount off the adult ticket price. “Family Packs,” which include two adult and two children’s tickets, are $25 — a
savings of $5.

C.E. Falk, who wrapped up his second straight Langley Late Model
championship last week, maintained fifth place in this week’s NASCAR
Whelen All-American Series National Top 500.
Falk moved ahead of former national champ Ted Christopher of Thompson
International Speedway in Connecticut, but he and Christopher were both
overtaken by Duane Howard of Pennsylvania’s Grandview Speedway.
Greg Edwards picked up a couple positions in the latest rankings, moving
from ninth to seventh, while Woody Howard held onto the 12th spot. Other
Langley regulars in the top 100 include: Danny Edwards Jr. (17th); Wes
Falk (31st); Mark Wertz (36th); Brandon Gdovic (43rd); and, Casey Wyatt
In the Virginia state standings, Justin Johnson of South Boston Speedway
continues to lead the way. His lead over C.E. Falk, however, has shrunk
to just 19 points. Greg Edwards is third, while Howard and Danny Edwards
Jr. are fifth and sixth and Wes Falk is 10th. Wertz, Gdovic and Wyatt
are 12th, 13th and 15th, respectively.

While Langley closed out its Late Model slate last weekend, the NASCAR
points window will remain open until Sept. 19. If drivers want to try to

herd of 600-horsepower ground-shakers tops the Labor Day weekend bill at
Langley Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 4.
It’ll be the first Langley visit since 2002 for the former SMART Mods.
