NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Langley Speedway
Update: Mods top 6-race bill this Saturday Wednesday, July 28, 2010
Shawn Balluzzo, Rusty Wood and Thomas Stinson
renew their three-way joust for the B&C Seafood Modified championship this Saturday, July 31, as Langley Speedway’s support divisions take the
spotlight for Auto Industry Night, the 15th event on the track’s 2010
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series calendar.
In addition to the 50-lap Modified feature, this weekend’s feature
lineup includes: Pepsi Grand Stocks (40 laps); Langley Fan Club Super
Streets (40 laps); Larry King Legal Services Super Trucks (25 laps);
Standard Welding Pro Sixes (30 laps); and, Enduros (50 laps).
Front gates open at 1 p.m., while afternoon practice rounds get rolling
at 2. A drivers meeting is slated for 4:15, followed by time trials.
Pre-race activities commence at 6:45 and the evening’s feature racing
program begins shortly after 7.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 6-12. “Little Race Fans”
(under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Military
personnel (active-duty or retired, with ID) and senior citizens (60+,
with ID) receive a $2 discount off the adult ticket price. “Family
Packs,” which include two adult and two children’s tickets, are $25 — a
savings of $5.
Advance tickets may be purchased online by clicking on the appropriate

Late Model points leader C.E. Falk has vaulted to fourth place in this
week’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Top 500 and Woody
Howard has moved into ninth. Connecticut Modified standout Keith Rocco
continues to hold down the top spot.
Riding a four-race winning streak, Greg Edwards checks in at 11th. Each
driver’s best 18 finishes count toward the national rankings. Since
Edwards has made just 16 starts, he can still make significant gains as
the national points campaign begins to wind down.
Other Langley regulars in the top tier of the rankings include: Wes Falk
(18th); Danny Edwards Jr. (19th); Mark Wertz (29th); Brandon Gdovic
(55th); and, Casey Wyatt (73rd).
In the Virginia state standings, Justin Johnson, who competes primarily
at South Boston with occasional forays to Motor Mile Speedway, retains
the lead, followed by C.E. Falk, Howard and Greg Edwards. Wes Falk and
Danny Edwards Jr. are seventh and eighth, while Wertz is 10th. Gdovic
and Wyatt rank 14th and 17th, respectively.

Heading into Saturday’s Modified tilt, Balluzzo holds a narrow
four-point edge over Wood, 292-288. Stinson, meanwhile, lurks in third,
just 12 points behind the leader. Between them, the trio has combined to
win all six races this season.

Robbie Parker brings a two-race winning streak into this week’s Grand
Stock 40-lapper. He and Ricky Derrick are deadlocked atop the division
standings at 254. Parker holds the advantage, though, with a 2-1 lead in
Behind the two leaders, Tommy Sweeney and Chris Hott are tied for third
with 244 points apiece. Fifth-place Carl Livingston trails Sweeney and
Hott by only two, while three-time race winner Mark Claar is just four
points behind Livingston.

Since spotting the field one race when he missed the season opener,
Randy Sample has been on a roll in Super Street competition. His six
starts have resulted in five wins and, last week, he moved into first
place in the series standings. A subpar outing for Sample, however,
could really roil the rankings, since only 32 points separate the top

Robbie Davis will look to extend his three-race winning streak in the
Super Truck 25-lapper, while Danny Harrell tries to remain unbeaten as
the Enduros hit the track for the third time this season.

In the Pro Six class, Matt Mullins enjoys a 14-point lead over Lindsay
Bryant. What Mullins didn’t enjoy, however, was T.J. Guthrie rooting him
out of the lead on the final lap of last Saturday’s race. He may get a
chance to return the favor in this weekend’s 30-lap feature.

The Crossroads Fuel Service Late Model Stock Cars return to action in a
pair of 75-lap features when NASCAR action resumes at Langley Speedway
on Saturday, Aug. 7. The Pepsi Grand Stocks, Langley Fan Club Super

The USARacing Pro Cup Series pays its second visit of the season to
