Mack “The Spudman” Little Wins NASCAR Whelen All American Series Sportsman Feature At Caraway Speedway

March 27, 2010 Saturday Night kicked off the season for the newly NASCAR Whelen All American Series sanctioned Sportsman, Late Model Super Trucks, Street Stocks and Mini Stock Divisions.
In the NASCAR Sportsman Feature Division “The Reidsville Rocket” Jason York, posted the fastest qualifying time earning him the pole award. After a mandatory re-draw of the top six qualifiers returning champion Josh Lowder of Archdale sat on the pole alongside of Kernersville’s Mack “The Spudman” Little.

On the start Lowder had his hands full as four cars were competing for the top spot. In the end on lap three Tommy Neal of Walkertown took over the lead and stayed there battling with Little lap for lap. With three laps to go Little made his move and went on to win his first Sportsman event of the season driving for a new team and car owner Horace Simpson.
Neal would finish in second over Lowder. Dan Discepoli of Greensboro, Kenny Bost of Winston Salem, Brad Kurth of Kernersville, Jeff Garrison of Clemmons, Luke Fleming of Mt. Airy, Jay Dalton of Liberty and Wayne Hill of Winston Salem rounded out the top ten finishers.

In the twin 25 Lap Late Model Super truck events Randleman’s Buddy Allred made a sweep taking home both victories and the pole award. Jimmy Wallace of Reedy Creek, Coy Beard of Lexington, Daniel Hemric of Mooresville and Wayne McHone of Lexington rounded out the top five in the first twin. Allred, Beard, Wallace, Hemric and Randy Dunn of Carthage rounded out the top five in the second twin.

In the 25 Lap Legends event Timmy Hill and Keven Wood battled for the top spot but in the end Hill would take the lead on the last lap winning his first event at the speedway. Hoyt Demis, Brandon McKenzie, Joe Hendricks, Brad Hancock, Brian Ouimette, Tyler Hill, Luke Demis and Jan Ingram rounded out the top ten finishers. Heat Winners were Wood & Hill. Division Winners were Hill – Semi-Pro, Wood – Pro, Hoyt Demis – Masters and Luke Demis – Young Lions.

In the 25 Lap Street Stock Gary Ledbetter of Lexington took home his first win of the season. Clyde Johnson of Sanford, John Chatman III, Bobby Grimes of High Point and Michael Worthington of High Point rounded out the top five finishers. Heat Winners were Ledbetter and Ricky Sweatt of Asheboro.

In the Mini Stock event AJ Sanders of Mocksville took home the win. Michael Tucker of Thomasville, Chuck Wall of Walkertown, Steven Collins of Asheboro and Archie Sanders of Mocksville rounded out the top five finishers. Heat Winners were AJ Sanders and P-nut Vernon of Walkertown.

Next Saturday Night the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stocks return for 150 laps of action. Also on hand will be Limited Late Model, Legends, Custom Steel Fabricators Super Mini Trucks, U-Cars and Pure Stocks. Grandstands open at 6pm and the racing gets way under the lights at 8pm.
